Sometimes I wonder what people a century ago would have said if they saw a glimpse of society and everyday life today. We go around buried in our devices, in a constant state of existence that mixes real life with a virtual world. When I saw this man walk in front of a mural in Issaquah, WA, I immediately saw their inquisitive and amused looks. It is as if they are staring at him, judging, and wondering what's happening. I was walking along the Kirkland, WA, waterfront on a beautiful summer day. The temperature was around 75 F, and a light breeze completed what I can only describe as my definition of "perfect weather." It reminded me of a day of early spring in Italy before the heat starts to re-explain why the entire country shuts down the entire month of August. As I was observing people experiencing much-needed outside freedom after a long period of semi-isolation, I noticed this lady enjoying the sunshine on a picnic table. She was the definition of comfort and peacefulness. There is a lot to learn from this image. It relaxes me just looking at it. The warm sun on her face, the long sleeves to cover from the sea breeze, and the shoes sitting on the ground next to the table tell a story. Peace, my friend. The waterfront in Kirkland, WA, is beautiful in summer. This attractive lady was walking along the edge at a brisk pace with wind in her hair, holding a phone as most people do these days. I shot this at F/1.2, ISO 100, with an 85mm prime lens. The bokeh in the background is soft, and the focus is sharp on the main subject. A small boat with three people can be seen on the left to balance the composition.
I was visiting the Bellevue art fair, walking around crowds of people selling their artwork. It is very interesting to observe how artists behave around potential customers. The majority of them don't really interact, hoping that the art will sell itself. Some are almost hiding from customers, and very few are excellent salespeople. As I was walking around noticing all of these dynamics, I noticed this sculptor perched on a stool next to his work. He looks like what I think a quintessential artist looks like, and I couldn't resist taking a picture of him. Canon R5, 37mm (24-105mm Zoom), ISO 400, F/4.5, 1/640 Sec.
